Meet Joseph Worman, a Solution Support Specialist at The Building People and an integral member of our Technology & Solutions Team.
Learn more about Joseph’s background and role below:
What is your professional background?
Joining The Building People is my first full-time role, and it’s been an exciting milestone in my career. Before this, I spent my free time working on various gigs like pressure washing, moving furniture, and delivering for DoorDash and Instacart. I also had the opportunity to intern with The Building People, which gave me valuable insights into the company and its culture before officially becoming a part of the team.
What is your role at TBP?
I’m a Solution Support Specialist, a role that allows me to take on diverse tasks and continually expand my knowledge across different domains. This position involves business analysis, cyber analysis, development, and hands-on problem-solving, offering me a well-rounded and dynamic experience.
Can you tell us about the work you do at TBP?
A significant part of my role involves supporting users from government agencies such as the IRS, USDA, and soon, the FDIC. When issues arise, I help resolve their concerns, often identifying system problems that require attention. In these cases, I analyze the issue, figure out how to replicate it, and explore potential solutions. I document my findings thoroughly and collaborate with a developer to implement fixes using tools like SQL. Once we have a solution, I conduct extensive testing in a controlled environment to ensure all related systems work properly before deploying the fix to production.
What do you like most about working in your role?
What I enjoy most about my role is the opportunity to explore and gain exposure to various career paths I might pursue in the future. As this is my first full-time position, it has been incredibly valuable in helping me discover the direction I want to take in my career. Additionally, working in the office helps me stay connected to the pulse of the company and build meaningful relationships with my colleagues.
What is a fun fact about you people might not know?
I enjoy learning new hands-on hobbies in my free time. Right now, I’m working on building an epoxy river table using a live-edge slab of redwood. It’s been an exciting and creative project.
How do you define success?
I define success as continually striving to improve and grow in whatever I pursue. It’s about working diligently to achieve my goals with integrity and without cutting corners. For me, true success also means making a positive impact on others along the way.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
I’m not entirely sure at the moment. When something sparks my interest, I usually dive in and work to learn it. Right now, my focus is on completing my live-edge epoxy river table. I prefer to concentrate on one new project or skill at a time, as juggling too many can feel overwhelming.
Do you have a favorite quote that resonates with you?
“Cuiusvis hominis est errare, nullius nisi insipientis in errore perseverare.”
Translated: “It is the nature of every man to make mistakes, but only the fool persists in his error.”
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
My high school football coach once told me, “If all I did was what everyone else is doing, how can I expect to reach a different destination?” This advice has stuck with me and continues to guide me in my personal and professional life.
What is the accomplishment you are proudest of to date?
Winning my high school state championship game for the second time is the accomplishment I’m most proud of.
Taken after my senior day football game with my family, cousins, aunt, and grandparents.
