The Building People has been awarded a $23 million contract by the U.S. Army Reserve to provide facility services support to the Operations, Maintenance and Energy Division of the Directorate of Public Works for the 63d Readiness Division, based in Mountain View, Calif.

The 63d Readiness Division has responsibility for real property ownership and support operations within a seven-state area that encompasses Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. It is vital that the buildings and grounds are properly monitored and maintained to meet the functional, appearance, safety, security and environmental standards of a Department of Defense federal workplace.

The Building People will provide operations support services that include facility engineering and management technical support; quality assurance services; engineering and computer assisted design; facility operations and maintenance; environmental services; energy programming; and more. The Building People will help the government with the management and evaluation of activities associated with the installation, operation and maintenance of buildings, equipment, utilities, structures, grounds and roads often located in remote areas. The Building People also will provide input regarding the functionality and aesthetics of the facilities.

The Building People LLC., have been awarded a 5-year, $24 million contract by the Department of Energy (DOE), Western Area Power Authority (WAPA), Desert Southwest Region (DSW) to provide vital technical support services and resources that assist in the daily operations to include Engineering Technicians, Drafting and Computer Aided Design (CAD) Operators, Computer Operators, Construction inspectors, Protection and Control Specialist, and Meter and Relay Technicians.

wapa region DSWWAPA is one of four power marketing administrations within the DOE whose role is to market and transmit wholesale electricity from multi-use water projects. Their service area encompasses a 15-state region of the central and western U.S. where our more than 17,000 circuit mile transmission system carries electricity from 57 hydropower plants operated by the Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the International Boundary and Water Commission. The WAPA DSW Region carries out WAPA’s mission to customers in Arizona, southern California, and southern Nevada where they sell more than 10.3 billion kilowatt-hours of Federal hydroelectric power to cities and towns, rural electric cooperatives, Federal and state agencies and irrigation districts.

The Building People Welcomes Laura Fabeny as New Senior Program Manager at DOE

BioHSLFThe Building People is please announce the arrival of Laura Fabeny as the new Senior Program Manager for our Department of Energy Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Office (EERE) Business Administration Support Services (BASS) contract. Ms. Fabeny is an industry professional with an impressive background supporting innovative energy and sustainability programs across the country. For the past several years, she has managed the Mission Oriented Technical Support (MOTS) contract with the Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Office, where she was responsible for the technical and contractual oversight of all DOE HQ staff supporting the MOTS contract. In this role Ms. Fabeny managed more than 60 staff across multiple technical programs including the Building Technologies Office, the Advanced Manufacturing Office, Solar Energy Technologies Office, and the Federal Energy Management Program. As Contract Manager at The Building People, Ms. Fabeny is responsible for the allocation and tracking of a millions in annual budgets for multiple tasks within each program, including subcontractor allocations, fiscal year funding tracking, tracking costs against deliverables, and obligated/costed/uncosted notifications. She will work directly with EERE program leadership as The Building People’s client representative to help ensure they achieve their programmatic goals. Additionally, she will work with teams to develop task order scopes, budgets, performance metrics, and staffing requirements for new initiatives.
