Meet Kimberly Demorest, Facility Security Officer at The Building People! She is a key member of our Headquarters team. Kimberly joined The Building People with extensive experience in government security and has been with the company for two years.

What is your professional background?
I began government contracting right out of college. I worked at the Pentagon upon graduation and worked for the Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition, Technology and Logistics) Front Office. I assisted in managing and implementing their Continuity of Operations Program (COOP) for the entire division to ensure safety of all personnel in the event of an emergency. I then transitioned and worked for the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Chemical and Biological Warfare. From there I began a position within a government contracting company managing their HR and becoming the Facility Security Officer (FSO). From there, I have been with 2 other companies as a FSO until I came to The Building People in 2021.
What is your role at TBP?
Facility Security Officer (FSO)
Can you tell us about the work you do at TBP?
I work as the FSO and assist in HR with new hires. I maintain our facility clearance program to ensure we remain compliant in order to be able to acquire and work on our contracts with the government.
What is a fun fact about you people might not know?
I was born in Manhattan and raised in New Jersey. I play the piano.
What do you like most about working in your role?
I love being able to assist in all areas of our company. Being in security, I can touch a lot of aspects and work with a lot of different people. I also love being able to be a part of welcoming new hires to ensure that they have a comfortable and enjoyable experience with our company.
How do you define success?
Success to me is contributing to the betterment of anything in a positive way.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
I would love to learn to speak different languages.
