At The Building People, our people are at the center of everything we do. In this month’s Employee Spotlight Q&A, we’re excited to introduce Edel Mobley, CAD Drafter/Specialist.
Learn more about Edel’s background and role below:

What is your professional background?
I have been an architectural project designer/manager for over thirty years. I started my career in 1989 designing custom homes in Hilton Head Island, SC. Since then, I have worked for a few local architectural/engineering firms in Columbia, SC designing hospitals, medical office buildings, schools, retail offices, and federal government facilities. I have worked for the 81st Readiness Division since 2010, designing numerous Army Reserve training centers. I have also been involved in construction inspections for numerous MILCON projects and renovation projects.
What is your role at The Building People?
Architectural and construction technical support/CAD drafter.
Can you tell us about the work you do at The Building People?
I maintain and update the CAD files and maps for the 81st Readiness Division. I also design numerous Army Reserve facilities, provide design review, and provide construction inspections for numerous MILCON projects.

What do you like most about working in your role?
I love the respect that I have here and knowing that my specialized expertise has been a great benefit.
How do you define success?
Success is the ability to work with people as a team player. It is giving all that you have, and always learning from others. The main goal is helping others to become better.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
What is a fun fact about you people might not know?
My dad was a captain with the Army Air Corps during WWII. My hobbies are landscaping and biking.
