Employee Spotlight Q&A: Jamie Godwin

At The Building People, our people are at the center of everything we do. In this month’s Employee Spotlight Q&A, we’re excited to introduce Jamie Godwin, Senior Project Manager.

What is your professional background?

I have over 15 years of experience in workplace and real estate technology, spanning solution delivery, strategic partnerships, and sales leadership. My career has focused on helping organizations use technology to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and better manage their real estate, facilities, and assets.

Can you tell us about the work you do at The Building People?

I oversee the end-to-end delivery and support of technology solutions for multiple clients. I lead and support cross-functional teams including solution analysts, developers, and support specialists, and I’m responsible for ensuring successful implementations, ongoing support, and strong client outcomes.

What do you like most about working in your role?

I enjoy problem solving and apply this approach in my role by working with clients to identify, design, and implement solutions that drive efficiency and value for their teams. I also really enjoy collaboration and connection, and I genuinely value building trusted relationships with both clients and internal team members.

How do you define success?

I define success less by the final outcome and more by the effort, learning, and growth along the way. Not every result looks successful on paper, but if I’ve put in meaningful work, learned from the experience, and improved because of it, I consider that success. Being proud of how I showed up and what I accomplished matters most to me.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

I’m going to take a bit of creative liberty with this question. I would want to learn how to capture the full feeling of a moment—so it can truly be shared with others or revisited later in life. Photography is something I admire because it freezes a single frame in time, but more broadly, I’m drawn to the idea of preserving an entire experience: the emotion, context, and meaning of what happened. Being able to capture and reflect on those moments would be incredibly meaningful to me but I guess for now I would at least learn to be a better photographer.

What is a fun fact about you people might not know?

A fun fact about me is that I’m pretty good at darts. I don’t play professionally, but I’m definitely better than all my friends—and we play a lot. We use a Wi-Fi-connected dartboard (called the Grandboard) that lets us play friends in other states, connect our tablets and TVs, and see each other while we play. It’s a great way to stay connected, talk a little friendly trash, and wind down after a long day.

Do you have a favorite quote that resonates with you?

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

The best piece of advice I’ve received is, “It is what you make of it.” Life is made up of countless moments, and while you can’t always control what happens, you can control how you show up and how you choose to view it. You can approach challenges as a victim or as a victor. I try to stay positive, find humor during difficult times, and trust that better moments will return. No matter where I am or what I’m doing, I make an effort to appreciate the moment for what it is.

What is the accomplishment you are most proud of to date?

My family is the accomplishment I’m most proud of. I started my family right out of college, and in many ways, my family has grown alongside me. While I value my own experiences and personal growth, nothing is more meaningful to me than watching the family I’ve built learn, grow, and strive toward their own goals. Creating a strong, supportive family is what I’m most proud of, and it remains my greatest priority.
