At The Building People, our people are at the center of everything we do. In this month’s Employee Spotlight Q&A, we’re excited to introduce Matthew Yampanis, Area Facilities Operations Specialist (aFOS).
Learn more about Matthew’s background and role below:

What is your professional background?
I served on active duty in the Army for 24 ½ years (tracked vehicle mechanic and geospatial engineer), was a DMDC call center rep for three years, and have been an Area Facilities Operations Specialist (aFOS) for the last six-plus years.
Can you tell us about the work you do at The Building People?
As an aFOS, I handle property management for eight Army Reserve facilities.
What do you like most about working in your role?

I like that I get to continue working with the US Army.
How do you define success?
Just get it done and don’t be afraid to ask for help.
What is a fun fact about you people might not know?
My immediate family is 100% veteran—my wife, all four of our kids, and me.
Do you have a favorite quote that resonates with you?

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Don’t sweat the small stuff.
What is the accomplishment you are most proud of to date?
Successfully retiring from the Army as a SFC (Sergeant First Class).
