At The Building People, our people are at the center of everything we do. In this month’s Employee Spotlight Q&A, we’re excited to introduce Thomas Perkins, Space Planner.
Learn more about Thomas’s background and role below:

What is your professional background?
I have been working with the 81st Readiness DPW FACPLANS for six years. I have been a Real Property Specialist, Space Planner, Community Planner, and Planning Systems Support. I have also been in the Army Reserves as a Combat Engineer since 2015. I enjoy DPW planning and overcoming the challenges the job brings.
What is your role at The Building People?
Space Planner.
Can you tell us about the work you do at The Building People?
I created and now maintain a facility space utilization tracker that helps our team understand facility assignments, available space, and utilization trends. The information supports decision-making related to facilities, equipment, and resource planning. I also assist with facility management efforts and help support projects across the organization when needed. I enjoy sharing knowledge I’ve gained over the years to help others succeed. Much of my time is spent working in various business and project management systems, and I’m always looking for ways to bring together information that provides a more complete picture for our projects.
