Leesburg, VA — October 23, 2025 — The Building People is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Eric Teicholz Sustainability Scholarship, administered through the IFMA Foundation. This prestigious scholarship provides full tuition for students and emerging professionals across the world to earn the Sustainability Facility Professional® (SFP®) credential, equipping them with the expertise to integrate sustainability into facility operations and management.
At The Building People, we believe that healthy, efficient, and resilient buildings are essential for the well-being of people and our planet. By supporting this scholarship, we are helping to develop the next generation of facility management and sustainability leaders who will shape the built environment for decades to come. The SFP credential empowers scholars to improve economic, environmental, and professional performance across organizations, advancing the industry’s collective impact toward a more sustainable future.
This sponsorship reflects The Building People’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, innovation, and community. Supporting the Eric Teicholz Scholarship directly aligns with our mission to create smarter, more efficient buildings that serve people and purpose alike. It also helps grow the talent pipeline in a rapidly evolving industry by opening doors for professionals from diverse backgrounds and removing barriers to education that might otherwise prevent them from pursuing advanced training and certification.
“Supporting the Eric Teicholz Sustainability Scholarship reflects our belief that progress begins with people,” said Lawrence Melton, CEO of The Building People. “When we invest in the education and growth of future leaders, we’re not just strengthening our industry, we’re empowering individuals to create healthier, more resilient communities for generations to come.”
The scholarship, created by Eric Teicholz, a pioneer in workplace innovation and sustainability, covers the full cost of earning the IFMA Sustainability Facility Professional® credential. It is open to students and early-career professionals in facility management or related fields who demonstrate financial need, potential for impact, and a commitment to advancing sustainable practices. The 2025 Awardees included 33 students across 15 different countries.
The Building People encourages students and young professionals passionate about sustainable facilities to apply and join a growing global network of professionals dedicated to transforming the built environment.
