Employee Q&A: Thomas Quick

Meet Thomas Quick, the Information Technology Manager at The Building People! He is a key member of our Operations Team.

Here is more from Tommy about his background and role at TBP:

What is your professional background?

Information Technology

What is your role at TBP?

I’m the IT Manager at The Building People.

Can you tell us about the work you do at TBP?

I oversee our internal IT department. That includes a wide array of things, but mainly our cyber security and IT compliance. All of our corporate IT systems, and all major internal IT-related projects. This has included projects such as migrating TBP from an on-premise network to Microsoft 365 and being mainly a cloud-based company.

What is a fun fact about you people might not know?

My uncle is one of the Five Guys.

What do you like most about working in your role?

The thing I like the most about working in this role is being able to enhance the company’s IT systems. We try to make the day-to-day easier for our employees as an internal IT team and I love being able to lead these efforts.

How do you define success?

Success is not defined by money, but more by happiness. If you are happy to go to work every day and enjoy what you do, then to me, that is success.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

To make music in any manner. I love music and going to concerts, but I am extremely musically challenged when it comes to actually making music.

Do you have a favorite quote that resonates with you?

I have never been a fan of inspirational quotes for some reason.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

“Don’t ever feel entitled to anything. Remember to always work hard. Don’t procrastinate. Don’t expect others to do your job. Understand that you will likely have to do not only your job, but someone else’s to get things done. That’s just life. If you remember these things, you will succeed where others will fail.”

What is the accomplishment you are the proudest of to date?

Being promoted to IT manager in 2023 and being able to lead a small team.
